How do You know if You are Going the Right Way?

This is a question that I have been faced with multiple times on my walk through this life. It's not easy to live as a christian in a fallen world. There is many challenges along the way and you will face a lot of hardships for following the right way.

So this brings us back to our question, "How do we follow the correct way?"

First things first, you must be a born again believer. You must have died to your old self and be alive in your new self. The only way to do this is if you have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus and have accepted Him as your Lord and savior.

The only way we can find the correct answer to a question like this is to look into scripture. The past couple of days I have been reading the book of Proverbs. This book is full of rich wisdom and insight from the Lord...

  1. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your Ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.

After reading this verse it's a great time to ask yourself some questions...

"Am I trusting the Lord with all my heart?"

"Do I try and bring my own ways into my situation's?"

"What are my ways set on?"

"Am I acknowledging Him in my decisions?"

"Am I trying to live two different lives?"

After asking yourself questions like this, it can be quite discouraging, but it's part of the process in realizing that you need God to walk in the right way. It's okay to be dependent on God for things you struggle with. The verse tells us to not lean on our own understanding. If we do so it will only lead us down the wrong way. So that is why we must only lean on God's understanding. In fact he wants us to do so, because we can love and trust him more if we rely on Him.

2. (Proverbs 3:17)

Her Ways are Ways of pleasantness,

and all her paths are peace

It is also important that you seek for God's wisdom in trials and tribulations, not relying on your own wisdom. The best place to go for wisdom is in scripture and in prayer. This verse makes it clear that if you make decisions with the wisdom that comes from God then you will have peace with what He gives you.

3. (1 Kings 8:58)

That he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his Ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his rules, which he commanded our fathers.

The main thing to see here is that God is the one who has control over our hearts. That is why it is so important that we are in prayer asking for wisdom and steadfastness. We can't find the right way without our shepherd. It is our goal as believers to keep his rules because he is our guide and leader.

Recap: Are you going the right Way?

  1. Be a born again believer

  2. Be dependent on God

  3. Be at peace in your current walk

  4. Be in scripture

  5. Be in prayer

  6. Be faithful

A great mentality to have that Paul portrayed well was...

(2 Timothy 4:7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

All The Way

I asked a man once how he was going to get to heaven. He responded, "I need to go to purgatory first." I didn't expect this answer. I...
